VISION: Women Of The Spirit
The Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network (WOMEN) Vision is to cultivate the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in Orthodox Christian women, for nurturing the entire body of Christ, building up the Church, and increasing Christian love for one another, through spiritual growth in Christ and service in communities.
We profess firm faith in Christ and in our Church's teachings, and affirm that each person is created in the Image of God and called to grow into His Likeness. We believe that all persons are endowed with Gifts of the Holy Spirit in ways that uniquely express the fullness of their humanity, and that it is each one's responsibility to develop their God-given talents for service to God and to the community.
MISSION : Women Serving Christ
WOMEN actively encourages the vitality and growth of the diverse parish, social, monastic and ecumenical ministries of women and men in the Church, which are blessed by the Church as Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
WOMEN reaches a hand and heart of sisterhood across all boundaries, offering resources for education and ministry in the service of spiritual life, to connect women of faith in action for Christ in their communities and in ecumenical settings.
OBJECTIVES: Women Helping Women
WOMEN carries out its Mission through these Objectives:
- Develop A Network For Support And Encouragement Of Women's Spiritual Growth And Leadership
- Celebrate What Women Are Already Doing In The Church
- Provide A Clearinghouse For Resources And Information On Women's Concerns
- Encourage Restoration of Female and Male Permanent Diaconate
GOALS: Women Serving The Community
WOMEN carries out its objectives by working toward accomplishing these Goals:
- Produce The WOMEN Webpage At www.OrthodoxWomensNetwork.org
- Sponsor The St. Nina Quarterly Journal
- Develop And Share The Synergia Parish Lay Ministries Model
- Offer The Ministries Mentoring Program
- Promote Women's Conferences and Events
- Liaison With And Expand Lay Ministry Programs and Resources In Seminaries and Jurisdictions
- Help Establish A Working Group To Promote The Re-Establishment Of The Female And Male Permanent Diaconate
